Clicking photos of helmetless cops riding a motorcycle and sharing them on social media are passé. The current trend is posting photos of cops without masks.
Recently, a police vehicle stopped in front of a book stall in Nanganallur. The shop owner and his employees thought the cops were there to ensure everyone is following social distancing norms and wearing masks.
So everyone quickly adjusted their masks.
A police officer who was not wearing a mask got down from the vehicle and entered the bookstall. He took out a list of textbooks, and the shop owner was immediately at his service.
I took a photo of the cop who wasn’t wearing a mask and nursed thoughts of sharing it on social media. The cop called his daughter to clarify what books she wanted, and, for a moment, I thought about what would happen to him if the photo went viral. He has a family to take care of. Why should I put him in trouble?
He may have been wearing a mask and removed that to breathe properly. Let him get a lungful of free air, I thought, and dropped my viral plan.
